Position Overview: We are looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to safely and efficiently operate various types of heavy machinery, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and other equipment used in excavation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of excavation techniques, equipment maintenance, and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate heavy equipment to excavate, move, and grade earth, rock, gravel, or other materials according to project specifications.
- Safely load and unload materials, equipment, and supplies using heavy machinery.
- Perform routine maintenance on equipment, including checking fluid levels, greasing moving parts, and reporting any mechanical issues to the maintenance team.
- Follow safety procedures and regulations at all times to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and others on the job site.
- Collaborate with site supervisors, project managers, and other team members to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
- Maintain accurate records of daily activities, including equipment usage, fuel consumption, and maintenance tasks.
- Conduct pre-operational inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and identify any potential hazards.
- Operate equipment in a manner that minimizes environmental impact and complies with regulatory requirements
Qualifications:
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and skid-steer loaders.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) if required.
- Strong understanding of excavation techniques, safety procedures, and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and other technical documents related to excavation projects.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness to operate heavy machinery safely and accurately.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual labor and operate heavy equipment for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to undergo background checks, drug screenings, and other pre-employment assessments as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification or training in heavy equipment operation from a recognized institution or apprenticeship program.
- Experience working in the construction or excavation industry.
- Familiarity with GPS technology and computerized equipment control systems.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
